【摘要】:Differentelectroplatingsystemscanbecorrodedunderthesameconditionsforthesamelengthoftime.Differencesintheaveragevaluesoftheradiusorhalf-widthorofpenetrationintoanunderlyingmetallayeraresignificantmeasuresoftherelativecorrosionresistanceofthesystems.Thus,ifthepitradiiaresubstantiallyhigheronsampleswithagivenelectroplatingsystem,whencomparedtoothersystems,atendencyforearlierfailureoftheformerbyformationofvisiblepitsisindicated.Ifpenetrationintothesemi-brightnickellayerissubstantiallyhigher,atendencyforearlierfailurebycorrosionofbasismetalisevident.1.1Thistestmethodprovidesameansformeasuringtheaveragedimensionsandnumberofcorrosionsitesinanelectroplateddecorativenickelpluschromiumorcopperplusnickelpluschromiumcoatingonsteelafterthecoatinghasbeensubjectedtocorrosiontests.Thistestmethodisusefulforcomparingtherelativecorrosionresistancesofdifferentelectroplatingsystemsandforcomparingtherelativecorrosivitiesofdifferentcorrosiveenvironments.Thenumbersandsizesofcorrosionsitesarerelatedtodeteriorationofappearance.Penetrationoftheelectroplatedcoatingsleadstoappearanceofbasismetalcorrosionproducts.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
